Privacy Policy
AttachMatch (“we”, “us”) runs attachmatch.com.au, an online marketplace where people in Australia and New Zealand buy and sell excavator attachments. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who sees it, and your choices. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Contact us at hello@attachmatch.com.au about anything in this policy.
1. What we collect
- Listings: attachment details, price, suburb/state/postcode, notes and photos, plus the seller’s name, email and phone number. Business sellers may also provide a business name, ABN and GST status.
- Accounts and profiles: your email address and sign-in details (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not visible to us), and any profile details you choose to save, such as business name, phone, suburb, state, ABN and GST status.
- Enquiries and messages: your name, email address, optional phone and location, and the message you send through a listing.
- Alerts and saved searches: your name, email address and the search criteria you ask us to watch.
- Payments: payments are processed by Stripe. We receive transaction details (such as amounts, status and delivery details you enter) but not your full card number.
- Location: if you choose “Near me” or “Use my location”, your device location is used to find nearby listings. Suburb lookups use OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service.
- AI tools: when you use the machine-fit or value-estimate tools, the attachment details you enter are sent to an AI service (Anthropic’s Claude) to generate the result.
- Usage data: we use Google Analytics to count visits and record actions such as searches and clicks, and Microsoft Clarity to record anonymised session replays and heatmaps showing how the site is used. Clarity is set to mask what you type into forms.
2. How we use it
- To run the marketplace: showing listings, passing enquiries to sellers, and processing payments.
- To send emails: listing confirmations, verification codes, enquiry notices, and alerts you asked for.
- To keep the site safe, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
3. Who can see your information
- Other users: a listing shows the attachment details, photos, price, general location and seller type. A seller’s phone number may be shown to buyers who enquire. When you send an enquiry, the seller receives your message and the contact details you provide.
- The site owner: we receive copies of listing activity (new, edited, deleted and imported listings) and of enquiries sent through the site. We use these for support, safety, quality and resolving disputes. Messages you send to each other directly by email outside the site are between you.
4. Service providers and overseas storage
We use these providers to run the site. Some store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe.
- Supabase — database, accounts and photo storage
- Netlify — website hosting
- EmailJS — sending emails
- Stripe — payments and seller payouts
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — usage analytics
- Anthropic — AI-generated fit and value suggestions
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim — suburb and location lookups
5. Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity use cookies to recognise returning visitors. Your browser’s local storage keeps things like your favourites and saved searches on your device. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on for Analytics.
6. How long we keep information
When you delete a listing it is removed from public view. We may keep a record of listings, enquiries and payments for as long as needed for support, disputes, tax and legal reasons, and as required by law.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, but no online service is perfectly secure. Please keep your password and listing delete or edit codes private.
8. Your choices and rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing hello@attachmatch.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. You can edit or delete your own listings at any time using the Edit and Delete links or your account.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first and we will try to fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
10. Children
AttachMatch is for adults. It is not intended for people under 18.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
